Core Objectives and Expectations
- Master the Total Teaching System: Utilize digital learning, instructor manuals, and presentation enhancement guides to provide a structured yet flexible training experience.
- Facilitate Active Learning: Move beyond traditional lectures to use group discussions, problem-solving activities, and field trips that increase student retention and skill development.
- Demonstrate Technical Proficiency: Model proper techniques for CPR, AED application, and the assembly/disassembly of emergency oxygen systems.
- Specialty Instructor Seminar: A seminar conducted by an active status Recreational or Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer who is also a React Right Specialty Instructor.
- Co-Teaching: A candidate can co-teach the program with an active status React Right Specialty Instructor who has issued at least five certifications in the program.
- Candidate Prerequisites: Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Non-SSI Professionals may only become instructors by completing the Specialty Instructor Seminar.
- Materials and Equipment: Training must be conducted using current and appropriate first aid/CPR mannequins (adult, child, and infant), oxygen administration units with various masks, and AED training equipment.
- Instructor Ratios: There is no maximum candidate-to-instructor ratio for the React Right Instructor Seminar, provided the instructor can control and supervise all candidates effectively.
- Basic Life Support: Focuses on scene assessment, personal protective equipment, and the “DRSABCD” action plan.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Teaches the “Chain of Survival” and the proper ratios and techniques for adult, child, and infant CPR.
- Automated External Defibrillation (AED): Instructs on the safe application and administration of an AED in combination with CPR.
- Respiratory Arrest and Drowning: Covers airway obstructions (choking) and the specific needs of drowning victims.
- First Aid Techniques: Includes managing shock, severe bleeding, burns, fractures, and medical emergencies like strokes or heart attacks.
- Oxygen Provider: Teaches the role of oxygen therapy and how to use demand, non-rebreather, and pocket masks.
- Finish the Specialty Instructor Seminar or co-teaching requirements.
- Pass the React Right final exam.
- Successfully complete required practical application scenarios, including at least two for First Aid/CPR, one for AED, and one for Oxygen Provider.
